There’s a lot of noise out there telling women to “step into their power” and “own their confidence.” And while I love a good affirmation, there’s something about feeling powerful in your own skin that no quote or Instagram reel can replicate.
Recently, I visited The Bathhouse in NYC — a modern-day homage to the ancient Roman bathhouse experience. Steam, hot plunge, cold plunge, sauna, scrub… yes, it was a vibe. But more than just a relaxing retreat, it was a mirror — not the kind that reflects your imperfections, but the kind that reflects your truth.
Picture this: women of all shapes, sizes, and shades, moving confidently (or sometimes cautiously) through the space — wrapped in towels, or not at all — fully present. No filters. No angles. No sucking in or shrinking down. Just being.
And you know what I felt? Free. Relaxed. Authentic. Empowered. Confident.
It reminded me that real confidence doesn’t come from chasing some impossible ideal, or filtering within an inch of your life on Facebook. It comes from witnessing and honoring the fullness of your own humanity — and everyone else’s. When you see that there’s no “right” way to have a body, you stop critiquing your own. You soften. You settle in. You breathe deeper.
Being surrounded by different bodies — not competing, not comparing — was one of the most radical acts of self-love I’ve experienced in a long time. I’ve certainly had my fill of others comparing while I’m focused on connecting.
We talk about stepping into our power, but here’s the truth: sometimes, stepping into a steam room in your skin is the most powerful thing you can do.
Ladies, your body is not a project. It's a presence.
Own it. Celebrate it. Give it both recognition and rest.
And if you're ever in NYC? Hit The Bathhouse. You just might walk out glowing from the inside out. Nothing is sexier than Audacious Authenticity!
